Operation "Trojan Shield" is described by the European police agency, Europol, as one of the largest operations ever directed against some of the world's most prominent criminals.

The operation, which was initiated by the FBI, managed to track suspects through the encrypted chat platform Anom.

The operation is said to have lasted for three years and involved police in 16 countries - including Sweden.

At the beginning of last week, a large number of dawn raids were carried out around the world, where the police collectively raided many addresses at the same time.

The police have now compiled the results of the Swedish part of the operation.

Among other things, they note that 196 house searches were carried out.

During the raids in Sweden, a large quantity of narcotics was seized.

A total of just over three tonnes of, among other things, hashish, amphetamines, marijuana and cocaine.

In addition, 15 weapons and two hand grenades were seized.

- The seizures are important but not decisive in this work, but the goal was to arrest strategic individuals and those who the police judge to be controlling actors in criminal networks, says Linda H Staaf, head of the intelligence unit at the Police's National Operations Department.

In addition to weapons and drugs, the police also state that they seized several vehicles and cash to the value of almost four million kroner.

155 people were detained and, according to the police, about ten murders or serious acts of violence were prevented.

- It is likely that we will see a certain decline in open violence, but in order to maintain such a trend, it is absolutely crucial that other actors in cooperation with the police in the local police areas implement powerful preventive measures so that the network environments are not quickly filled on again, says Linda H Staaf.
