“The Italians continue to be friends with the Russians, I hope that relations between peoples will remain the same: relations of respect and friendship,” RIA Novosti quotes the minister.
He also expressed hope that the situation in Ukraine would not affect relations between Russians and Italians.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Europe needs to wake up from a lethargic sleep and not step on the same rake.
Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said he was upset by the fact that there was no peaceful settlement of the conflict around Ukraine.
