Every day, Europe 1 looks at an idea or a problem in your daily life.

The bills have been steadily increasing in recent months.

A difficult situation, especially for the most modest.

This is the case of the tenants of HLMs in the northern districts of Marseille, who demonstrated in front of the premises of their social landlord.

Impossible for them to pay more.

This is the great fear of tenants, especially the most modest: not being able to pay their gas and electricity bills.

The INSEE affirms it: the unpaid should reach 7% this year.

If the tariff shield, which limits the increase to 15%, applies since January 1, it is a dust in the face of soaring prices.

For these Marseille HLM tenants, for example, the bill is multiplied by four.

Several dozen residents demonstrated earlier this week under the window of Habitat Marseille Provence.

“We are frozen like never before”

"We won't pay."

At the foot of the large bars of faded buildings, they are about fifty, gathered in front of the headquarters of their lessor.

Armande does the math quickly with her small pension, she can't pay more.

“From 30 euros, I go to 84 euros. We have been retired for 15 years, we have worked, we have done what had to be done and we find ourselves with our backs to the wall. We can no longer get by. "

Beside her, two of her neighbors.

For them, given the state of the building, it is not understandable that the charges increase.

"The so-called heating they put on us is poorly insulated. We're frozen, frozen like never before," says one of them.

"I've lived here for 50 years: we have no guards, we live with rats, cockroaches...", regrets the second.

In front of the premises of the lessor Habitat Marseille Provence, the inhabitants make a decision.

They will not pay one euro more and are already meeting next week to continue to be heard.
