A 31-year-old motorist was sentenced to sixteen months in prison by the Albi Criminal Court (Tarn) on Tuesday.

Residing in Carmaux, the defendant had refused to obey a police check overnight from Sunday to Monday, reports

During his arrest, the officials found that he was driving without a license, without insurance and in a state of intoxication.

A criminal record provided

Judged in immediate appearance, the defendant was kept in detention at the end of the hearing.

Determined to escape the police, he drove at 140 km/h instead of 50 km/h.

It was the burst of his left front tire that finally allowed the officers to apprehend him.

In court, the 30-year-old said he sped up because he was "tired of waiting" to decapitate.

He assured that he was not aware of the cancellation of his driver's license in June 2021 or of the lack of insurance of the vehicle, which would belong to his brother.

This is not the first time that the defendant has had to deal with justice.

His criminal record now shows 17 convictions.
