In the forest Finnish flag, the green color stands for forest, red for fire and rowan, yellow for burnt rye and fists and the black for soot in smokehouses and scalds.
The rhombus, which has been placed in the cross of the flag, stands for fertility.
The winners of the flag competition were Bettina Gullhagen and Frédéric M. Lindboe from Norway.
