In recent days, the rating of Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne is in free fall.

According to an Elabe poll published on Wednesday, French opposition to pension reform is growing, while Emmanuel Macron's action is increasingly considered "disappointing".

And Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne is also not immune to this decline in popularity.

The rating of Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne has deteriorated sharply since the fall, according to an Elabe poll for BFMTV published on Wednesday which reveals growing French opposition to pension reform.

Emmanuel Macron's action is considered "disappointing" by 64% of French people, up sharply since October (+7 points), while 15% (+2) find it "satisfactory", according to this survey.

For 21% (-9), "it is too early to say".

Rejection of pension reform intensifies

The image of the Prime Minister is also deteriorating: 57% of French people believe that she is a "bad" Prime Minister (+20 points compared to the end of September) against 25% (-6) for whom she is a "good "head of government.

In addition, the rejection of pension reform is intensifying with 72% of French people "opposed" to the government's project, an increase of 6 points in one week, and 13 points in two weeks.

Conversely, 27% (-7) are "in favor".

"The opposition to the reform is progressing strongly in one week and becomes for the first time a majority among pensioners (59%, +13)", notes the institute.

Asked about the reasons for their hostility to government reform, 84% invoke "an opposition to the content" and 16% "an opposition to Emmanuel Macron and the government of Elisabeth Borne".

More specifically, 74% (+10 points in one week) consider the reform "unfair", 62% (+5) "inefficient" to ensure the sustainability of the pension system, and 54% (+1) "not necessary".

The French behind the strikers

As for the argument "this reform has been democratically presented and validated" put forward by the Head of State, 71% of respondents believe that "Emmanuel Macron is wrong".

Other lessons: the approval of the mobilization against the reform is progressing (64%, +8) and 57% of the French (+2) assure that they "would understand that the strikers are blocking the country, because it is the only way to that the government withdraw or modify its pension reform".

But 71% of French people think that the reform "will be voted on and applied", according to this poll.

Survey carried out by internet from January 24 to 25 with a representative sample of 1,000 people, according to the quota method.

Margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 points.
