Previously, at least one year on the penalty scale was required for the criminal to be deported, now it is six months.

The number of convicted criminals who are deported from Sweden is expected to increase by roughly 200 people per year with the new law change from last autumn.

- Prosecutors will request deportations in more cases than before and it is likely that courts will decide on more deportations, which is the purpose of the entire change in the law, says Hélène Dalhammar Axlund, who is a specialist prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor's Office's development center in Stockholm.

The government wants to deport more

In addition to the change in the law, an investigation has been added by the government and the cooperation partner SD to see if it is possible to deport more people based on the gang problems that have been in recent years.

In the Tidö agreement, it appears that they want to review whether it is possible to deport people for "lack of conduct".

According to the Tidö Agreement, misconduct can, for example, involve abuse, prostitution or association with, for example, criminal networks.
