A 37-year-old man was arrested and placed in police custody in Palaiseau (Essonne), this Monday evening.

He is suspected of having assaulted police officers who had intervened at his home about domestic violence, reports

The anti-crime brigade had been sent to the Camille-Claudel district around 11:15 p.m.

When two officers knocked on the door of the apartment where the marital dispute had broken out, the suspect opened the door and threw himself on them.

Spat on the police

"He tries to grab the service weapon of one of them, then tries to strangle one with the strap of his defense ball launcher [LBD]", explained to our colleagues a police source .

Other police officers came to help their colleagues arrest the 30-year-old.

As he struggled, the suspect spat, his mouth bloody, in the direction of several officers.



Unknown to the police, the attacker was taken to hospital before being taken into custody.

Two police officers were slightly injured during the intervention.
