A man stabs train passengers in Germany, and two of the victims die

A man stabbed and injured several people on a train in northern Germany on Wednesday before being arrested by police, German news agency DPA reported. Two of the victims died.

Germany's federal police force said the man used a knife to attack several passengers shortly before the regional train (Kiel-Hamburg) arrived at Bruckstedt station.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that seven people were injured.

The agency later quoted the interior minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Zabene Zutterlin-Vack, as saying that two people were killed and five wounded in the attack, which took place at around 3:00 p.m. local time.

The news agency said the train station in Bruckstedt was closed for several hours.

Police did not provide any information on the identity of the suspect and said his possible motives are under investigation.
