A dog shot dead an American hunter who was sitting in the front seat of a "pickup" vehicle, after stepping on a gun in the back seats, and the accident occurred in the center of the United States in the past few days, according to police.

The dog was present - last Saturday - in the back seats of the vehicle, where "hunting equipment and a gun were," when he "stepped on the weapon, which led to the shooting," according to the Samer County Sheriff's Office in rural Kansas.

The authorities indicated that the victim, a 30-year-old man, was sitting next to the driver's seat when he was shot, and he "died instantly of his injury."

The investigation is still ongoing, but, according to preliminary information, what happened is related to a "hunting accident," according to what the police chief's office confirmed.
