The skeleton of a 65-year-old woman was discovered in her apartment, in the city center of Carpentras (Vaucluse), on January 14.

The tenant had not been seen since mid-December and her mailbox was overflowing, reports

in an article published on Monday.

It was the firefighters who, after breaking down the door, made the macabre discovery.

In the middle of the rubbish, they found what was left of the corpse of the tenant, as well as the skeleton of her cat.

A natural death

Uncertain about the cause of death, the medical examiner had to carry out an autopsy.

The latter made it possible to determine that the woman had died of natural causes, in connection with a long illness from which she suffered.

This put an end to the investigation opened by the police of Carpentras.
