Hydrocarbon pollution affected several rivers in Val-d'Oise this weekend.
As a result, this Saturday and Sunday, many residents of Auvers-sur-Oise, Frépillon and Méry-sur-Oise could smell a gasoline smell of unknown origin, reports
La Gazette du Val-d'Oise
.
The smell of solvent was in fact due to this pollution.
The Sanitation Syndicate of the South Oise Valley was alerted.
"The origin of these odors is a criminal discharge of hydrocarbons, potentially fuel oil, in Frépillon", confirmed Siavos.
A complaint lodged
It is not known whether this pollution occurred this Saturday or this Sunday.
"The precise origin has not yet been determined and investigations are still ongoing," added Siavos in its statement on Monday.
The network operator lodged a complaint with the gendarmerie.
The union said it would inform users of the progress of the investigation via its website.
In April 2022, similar pollution caused a foul smell in the region after a release of hydrocarbons in the Presles ru.
