Many people must have found their hometown even during the short four-day Lunar New Year holiday. In Latvia, which is located in the central part of the three Baltic countries, there are people who are in danger of losing their hometown overnight.

A block of ice is slowly moving along the river.

This is Latvia's Yekappils region. Originally, the river should have been frozen solid at this time of year, but as the weather became milder due to climate change, large blocks of ice were formed instead.

The problem is that this block of ice is raising the water level of the nearby dam, and some areas are already submerged.

Residents are on high alert as residential areas are at risk of being submerged.

The government recommended evacuation and entered a blockade around the dam, and they are scooping water from the flooded area, but the situation is not good as the flood overlaps.
