The film has been screened three times since Friday when it premiered at one of the world's biggest film festivals, Sundance.

And Inga Elin Marakatt has received many rections.

- As it is a horror film, it feels good that people get scared when they see it.

The film has been well received, the people are interested and grateful that they can come to Sápmi via the film and experience part of it, she says and continues.

- A large part of the films that are shown here are filmed in big cities and in the USA and then there is suddenly a Sami mountain.

Stolen silver with a curse

The story of Unborn Biru, Inga Elin has worked on for a long time and she points out that it is a Sami film and that it is incredibly important.

The main roles are played by Sofia Jannok and Katja Omma Simma.

It's about stolen silver that carries a curse with it.

The curse hits a poor, pregnant, widow and her child.

- It is a Sami story, played by Sami actors and many in the production are Sami, such as myself and the producer Per-Josef Idivuoma (ed. note who also participates during Sundance).

It's special because it's the first time it's happened, says Inga Elin Marakatt.

Awarded the Tromsö Palm

Last week, the film won the Tromsö Palm during the Tromsö International Film Festival.

- It means a lot to me.

I've been working on the script for so long, sitting alone writing and thinking about the story.

And then suddenly it's shown in cinemas and major festivals, it's very special, says a happy director and screenwriter.

What is your next project?

- I like the horror film industry, I want to continue to be there, but I write all the time, both books and films, so we'll see what happens here in the future, says director and screenwriter Inga Elin Marakatt, who is on site at the Sundance film festival.
