Activists on social media launched a campaign to boycott Swedish products in response to the far-right Rasmus Paludan's burning of a copy of the Holy Qur'an, protected by the Swedish police, near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, last Saturday.

Also, more than 40 members of the Kuwaiti National Assembly today, Tuesday, strongly condemned the incident, and issued a statement calling for a boycott of Sweden and every country that does not respect the constants of the Islamic nation.

The activists expressed their discontent with Waludan's behavior, and the hashtag #boycott_Swedish_products topped the list of popular hashtags in most Arab countries, as tweeters demanded a boycott of Swedish products in a punitive step for providing protection to the extremist politician.

The leader of the Danish far-right "hard line" party, Rasmus Paludan, burned a copy of the Holy Quran in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, last Saturday, amid strict security protection.

The YouTuber, Abdullah Al-Sharif, said that what Western countries practice is double standards with freedom of expression, and shared a short video clip expressing Western reactions to the burning of the flag of Israel or homosexuals, and compared it to their position on burning the Holy Quran.

On the other hand, Arab stores participated in boycott campaigns, and cooperative societies in Kuwait announced a boycott of Swedish products, in response to the burning incident.

A member of the Board of Trustees of the Union of Muslim Scholars, Muhammad al-Sagheer, called - in a tweet on Twitter - "to boycott the Swedish giant furniture company, Ikea, saying that "focusing efforts on boycotting a major company like Swedish Ikea for a month from now will show results quickly."

"The crime of burning a copy of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden is a gross disrespect for Islamic sanctities, and expresses human and civilizational reactionaryness and disrespect for international covenants," wrote a member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Muhammad Al-Huwaila, in a tweet on Twitter.

He added, "Kuwait must lead an Arab and Islamic movement to reject this disgraceful act and put an end to such hostilities against Islam."

Statement 45 of a Kuwaiti parliamentarian: “We condemn the crime of burning a copy of the Holy Qur’an, as it is guidance for humanity, and directs goodness and truth.

We call on parliamentarians to boycott Sweden, as a result of this criminal and barbaric act, and every country that does not respect the constants of the Islamic nation.”

Parliamentary condemnation

On the other hand, more than 40 deputies in the Kuwaiti National Assembly - today, Tuesday - strongly condemned the move to burn the Noble Qur’an.

And the deputies said - in a statement to them - "We, the members of the National Assembly, strongly condemn and denounce the burning of a copy of the Noble Qur'an in Sweden, in a repeated scene that indicates repeated and multiple abuse of Islamic sanctities and a flagrant violation of international rights, principles and covenants, and provoking the feelings of Muslims around the world."

The statement expressed their condemnation of the position of the Swedish government to allow this criminal act, appealing to parliamentarians in the world to denounce this "barbaric act", and calling on everyone to boycott Sweden and every country that does not respect the principles of the Islamic nation.

Representatives of the Kuwaiti National Assembly affirmed that "such behavior will never undermine the sanctity of the Holy Qur'an in the heart of every civilized person, and the Qur'an will remain a guiding book for humanity and a guide to the values of goodness and truth."

Isn't it strange that the entire Egyptian and Arab human rights organizations did not issue any statements or any statements condemning the crime of burning the Holy Qur'an in Sweden, or even expressing their dissatisfaction with it? Disavow the incident!

Focusing efforts on boycotting a major company such as the Swedish IKEA for a month from now, results will appear quickly, and an urgent message will be conveyed about billions of anger over the burning of the Qur’an because the people do not hurt them more than banning the dirham and the dinar.
