The chaos that arose when SJ started selling tickets for the Christmas departures, should not occur again at midnight between January 24 and 25, the press manager warns.

When the Christmas holidays were released in November, the pressure became so high that many customers did not arrive on either the web or the app.

- Now we have a queuing system that only allows a certain number of customers to be let through to the site.

You get a queue number which you keep until the purchase is made.

Then we know that the load is always at its highest during the Christmas holidays and it will be lower now, says Tobbe Lundell.

No crazy prices

The new solution, which according to the press manager has not been run in sharp mode yet, should also prevent the prices from being rigged up as they did before Christmas.

As SJ has a dynamic pricing system where popular departures are more expensive, some departures disappeared when many customers chose them, despite not being able to complete the purchase.

According to Tobbe Lundell, the fact that the tickets for the major travel weekends of Easter and Ascension are not included in Wednesday's release is because the Swedish Transport Administration has not planned its track works.

Above all, it is trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg and Stockholm and Jämtland that cannot be nailed down.

He cannot say when those trips will be available for purchase.

- It is hopelessly late overall and especially with track work.

We are 1.5 months behind compared to normal, he says.

Berlin tickets are delayed

The tickets that are released now apply to travel during the period 13 March to 28 May.

When the summer train journeys can be bought has not been decided, but probably at the turn of March-April.

Recently, SJ announced that it will start running night trains between Stockholm and Berlin during the summer.

The trains depart at 17.30 and arrive in Berlin at 09 the following morning.

But those tickets also cannot be booked yet because everything is not in place.

- All the papers have not been signed yet, but as soon as it is ready, we will announce it, says Tobbe Lundell.

Night trains to Berlin are scheduled to run between April and September.
