The number of Swedes stationed at war has increased by 20 percent in almost six months.

Municipalities and regions have already come relatively far in the work of deploying their employees, but an increase is also expected in the private sector.

- What is possible today is that, on a voluntary basis, the resourcing of personnel is reviewed in the event of crises and war, says Johan Sjöberg.

It is only when the government decides on heightened preparedness and prescribes public service obligations that companies are obliged to adapt their operations, which can mean both redeployment of employees and re-prioritization.

- The word war placement is a concept that refers to duty and coercion, with punishment if you break it.

That possibility does not exist in peacetime, says Johan Sjögren.

"Companies ready to contribute"

Business plays a central role in total defense and has an obligation to participate in planning and providing information, explains Johan Sjöberg.

In the event of a deteriorating security situation, it is important that companies have a clear idea of how the business should be prioritized.

- Here, there is still a lot that remains in the dialogue with the responsible authorities.

To clarify exactly what role the companies have, says Johan Sjöberg and adds:

- The companies know that they have a role and are prepared to contribute.

Not least during the pandemic, we saw that a great many companies did well, much more than what was expected in terms of restructuring production.
