The Southern Lapland pastorate consists of five parishes, Dorotea-Risbäck, Stensele, Lycksele, Vilhelmina and Åsele-Fredrika, and is on the surface one of Sweden's largest pastorates.

During the autumn and winter, energy costs have increased drastically, therefore additional measures are now being taken to reduce energy costs.

Can be forced to freeze

In buildings that do not have activities until the week, i.e. most churches, the temperature will be lowered by four degrees.

Ceremonies, for example, funerals, weddings and baptisms are not affected.

- Then we turn up the heat, says Tommy Berglund.

Closing the churches has not been an issue that has been on the table yet, but Berglund does not rule this out if electricity prices remain high.

- It could be an alternative, he says.
