Los Angeles shooter found dead in a truck

Two American policemen at the scene of the attack.

A manhunt for a gunman who killed 10 people at a Los Angeles nightclub has ended with him being found dead of injuries he sustained after he shot himself in a getaway truck.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna identified the man as Hou Kan Tran, 72, and said there were no other suspects at large.

He added in a press conference that the motive is still unclear for the attack, which left 10 others injured.

Luna did not specify the exact ages of the victims, but said they were all over 50.

He added that seven of the wounded are still in hospital.

The police chief explained that the suspect was carrying what he described as a semi-automatic handgun with an additional magazine, and another handgun was found in the truck in which Tran was found dead.

Law enforcement forces stormed the truck, after they surrounded it for hours before entering it.

A dead body appears to be lying on the steering wheel and was later removed from the truck.
