The cartoon was published in the FAZ in 2022. The prize for political cartoons is donated by the Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV).

The winners were published on Monday evening.

A picture of Putin's brutality

Under the title "Putin private", the Russian President is portrayed here in a bathrobe and slippers, trudging through the golden Kremlin doors, giving the order to a saluting military charge: "Igor, cause me a bloodbath".

According to the jury, the simultaneity of private appearance, glamor and excessive commission illustrated the brutality with which Putin is waging Russia's war against Ukraine.

The award, which is worth 5,000 euros, will be presented at the opening of the exhibition Rückblende 2022 in Berlin.

The second prize in the caricature prize, endowed with 2000 euros, goes to Klaus Stuttmann ("Tagesspiegel" and other newspapers).
