After many fan tattoos celebrating Argentina's 2022 World Cup victory, a cornfield in the center of the country has been treated to its own reproduction of Argentina captain Lionel Messi's face.
Using advanced agricultural technology, an Argentine farm in the rural Ballesteros region, about 500 kilometers northwest of the capital Buenos Aires, drew the face of the seven-time Golden Ball, before sharing the software so that the drawing can be reproduced.

The design, by agri engineer Carlos Faricelli, was made using precision planting, and was shared with many, who planted corn in this way to pay tribute to the star.

Farmer Charly Faricelli says he planned to draw Messi's face in his cornfield regardless of Argentina's result in Qatar last month.
“The idea was to produce a tribute from the agricultural world to Messi, whether he won the World Cup or not – which he did, thank goodness!

With seeds
The size of nearly four football pitches, Messi's face can only be seen from above, and becomes more and more visible as the corn grows.
Unlike other agricultural designs, where plants are cut to create an image, this "agricultural tattoo" is the result of different concentrations of planted seeds.
Charly Faricelli explains that, "thanks to advances in technology, the tractor knows exactly, as it goes, how many seeds to sow where".
He invited other farmers on social media to emulate his tribute and shared the software for them to download to their equipment.

There are 25 faces of Lionel Messi in the cornfields across five different provinces, according to the farmer.
"We identify with the national team, because it suffered before winning, and the agricultural world is also suffering," he said, referring to a major drought affecting the fertile plains of the Pampa, in the central Argentina.
