The police were alerted this Thursday afternoon in Isère after a 4-year-old child was seen by several passers-by alone in a car, while the outside temperature was around 3°C.

The vehicle was parked in the parking lot of the Ikea store in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

The car being locked, witnesses asked security agents to break a window in order to be able to take care of the little girl.

But they refused and urgently alerted the municipal police.

No car seat in the car

While waiting for the intervention of the agents, the owner of the vehicle was called several times via advertisements placed in the store.

When the police arrived, the child had been in the car for at least 30 minutes.

At the same time, the little girl's father joined his car.

He explained to the police that he had just had a coffee.

His daughter did not want to come with him, so he left her alone in the vehicle.

While inspecting the vehicle, the police noticed that there was no car seat adapted to the child, a mandatory device.

The father had to go buy some before hitting the road again.

A report was sent to the national police.
