A mass shooting in Monterey Park, a small town in Los Angeles (LA) County, USA, was revealed to be the sole culprit of a 72-year-old Asian man.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office held an incident briefing in front of Monterey Park City Hall and announced that the suspect in the shooting was Asian male Huu Can Tran (72).
According to the police, on the 21st, the day before the Lunar New Year, Tran opened fire at Star Dance, a dance school in Monterey Park where many Chinese and other Asian residents live.
The shooting killed 5 men and 5 women at the scene and injured 10 others.
Sheriff Robert Luna said Tran acted alone and secured a semi-automatic assault rifle at the scene.
Tran was found dead a 40-minute drive from Monterey Park.
Police said Tran took her own life after going into an outdoor parking lot at a mall in Torrance, Calif., and a motive for her murder is still under investigation.
Police did not provide details about the identities of the casualties.
