Ramadan is March 23.. and fasting is 14 hours

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, expected that the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1444 AH will be on the 23rd of next March (Thursday), and the fasting hours will reach 14 hours, while Eid Al-Fitr will come on Friday, the 21st of next April.

And he stated that «the new crescent for the month of Ramadan will be born on Tuesday, March 21 at 21:23 pm, that is, after sunset.

And with the sunset of the next day, it will be about 10 degrees above the western horizon, and it will set about 50 minutes later.

Accordingly, Thursday, March 23, will be the beginning of the astronomical month of Ramadan, pointing out that the agreement between countries in seeing the crescent of Shawwal is likely to provide conditions for visual vision.

And he continued, “As for the new crescent for the month of Shawwal, it will be born on Thursday, April 20, at 08:13 am.

With sunset, it is above the western horizon at a height of four degrees, and it sets approximately 22 minutes after sunset.

Accordingly, Friday, April 21, will be the first of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr astronomically, and the difference between countries in seeing the crescent of Shawwal is due to the difficult conditions of vision.

He pointed out that «the length of the fasting hours varies by about 40 minutes from the beginning of the month to the end, as it is shorter at the beginning and longer at the end.

And since the daylight hours are from sunrise to sunset, it will be approximately 12 hours and 16 minutes at the beginning of the holy month, and 12 hours and 54 minutes at the end.

As for the length of the legal day and the hours of fasting from dawn to sunset, it is approximately 13 hours and 30 minutes at the beginning of the holy month, and 14 hours and 13 minutes at the end.

He pointed out that "the astronomical spring season extends between March 21 and June 21," noting that "the month of Ramadan this year will be entirely in the spring, while Ramadan is expected to enter next year 1445 in the astronomical winter season."

It is expected that the weather will be moderate during Ramadan, with the highest temperatures ranging from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius, and the lowest from 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.

And at the end of the day, the weather may tend to rise in temperature, and at night to moderate, below 20 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperatures will be 33 to 36 degrees Celsius, and the lowest will be 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.

It is also expected that the month of Ramadan will be interspersed with the season of spring weather disturbances known as “Al Sarayat”, which may cause heavy thunderstorms.
