This week, the government decided to propose an amendment to the law that removes the ban on building new nuclear power at other locations than where reactors already exist today, i.e. Ringhals, Oskarshamn and Forsmark.

According to a survey carried out by TT, however, interest among the municipalities is lukewarm.

Of Sweden's 290 municipalities, only about twenty can imagine building nuclear power within their municipality.

In Östergötland, there are two municipalities that could consider building nuclear power, Norrköping and Valdemarsvik.

Both municipalities are bourgeois governed and so are 18 of the other 24 municipalities who want to see nuclear power.
