Germany and France agreed on Sunday to soon conduct joint border patrols to monitor undocumented irregular migrants.

The agreement was signed during a joint ministerial meeting in Paris for the governments of the two countries, between German Interior Minister Nancy Weser and her French counterpart, Gerald Darmanan.

The agreement provided for the establishment of a German-French service unit specialized in monitoring irregular immigrants who do not have documents proving their nationalities.

And according to the German Ministry of the Interior, it was also agreed that the German-French unit could be used to secure major events in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, to be held in Paris in 2024, as well as in joint border control operations.
