At the exhibition in Vaggeryd, which is open to participants from all over the country, the pigeons are judged according to breed standards, in the same way as dogs and cats are judged.

- There is something for all tastes.

Big, small, different colors and so on, says Lars-Olof Välemark Swedish Pigeon Breeding Association.

The birds are examined, scored and the best animals finally receive an honorary award and certificate.

If the same pigeon has received a certificate at three different shows, it is awarded a championship and this proves the owner's skill as a breeder.

1-2 exhibitions are organized annually in the country.

- The pigeons are not normally caged like this.

It is only now when they should be assessed, says Lars-Olof Välemark.

Took home the trophy

One of the exhibitors is Krystian Przygocki who has around 80 pigeons at home, some of which are in this weekend's competition.

- I'm happy.

It was a trophy, he says and shows the magnificent bird in front of the camera.

In the clip above, you can see how it looked during the weekend's competition.
