“The closure of RT France, with deafening silence from other French media and journalists, is only the first step in this dangerous direction, because after our channel, other media will be the next target,” the channel said.

It is noted that 123 French employees, including 77 journalists, risk not receiving their salary for January and lose their jobs due to an arbitrary decree of the authorities.

It is clarified that in addition to the severe economic consequences for many families, the question arises about the future of media pluralism in France, their representativeness and independence.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the blocking of RT France accounts would lead to a response against the French media.

On January 20, the head of RT France, Ksenia Fedorova, said that the very fact of the existence of the TV channel haunted the authorities.

The Russian embassy in Paris said that the main losers in this situation are residents of France and other French-speaking countries.

They noted that the blocking of accounts goes beyond the restrictive measures imposed by the European Union against Russia, which do not apply to RT France.
