Burkina Faso: the army releases about sixty women kidnapped in Arbinda

End of the ordeal for the sixty women kidnapped by suspected terrorists last week Thursday 12 and Friday 13 January in Arbinda in northern Burkina Faso.

They were found this Friday on board a bus in the north central region.

They arrived Friday evening January 20 in the capital where they were welcomed by the authorities.

Radio-Television du Burkina broadcast images of these women, freed and brought back to Ouagadougou, evoking an "operation" of the armed forces.

The

women abducted in Arbinda

were found during a traffic check operation.

The bus carrying them stopped at an internal security forces checkpoint in the commune of Tougouri, about 70 km from Kaya in the Center-North region. 

It was while they were checking the identities of the passengers on a bus that the gendarmes were attracted by the number of women and they realized that they were the missing from Arbinda 

", explain several sources that RFI has could join.  

The bus passengers were transferred to Kaya, from where an armed forces aircraft airlifted them to Ouagadougou.

A total of sixty-six women aged 00 to 55, including 4 infants.

The ex-hostages were welcomed by members of the government and the military hierarchy upon their arrival in the capital. 

According to our sources, investigations are continuing on the spot in Kaya, with interrogations to find out their place of departure and what their final destination was.

No information for the time on the driver of the bus, nor on the bus itself.

These women

had disappeared from Arbinda

when they had gone to the bush to gather leaves and wild fruits for food.
