Air India fined for man urinating on woman in mid-air

Air India has been fined $37,000 for its handling of an incident in which a drunk US bank manager was accused of urinating on a female passenger, Indian media reported Friday.

The media indicated that the man, who is currently imprisoned, urinated on a 72-year-old passenger who was sitting in business class during a flight from New York to New Delhi on November 26, but the accused denies what was attributed to him.

And local media reported on Friday and Saturday that the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority in India fined the Director of Aviation Services at Indian Airlines 300 thousand rupees (about 37 thousand dollars).

As for the pilot, his license was suspended for three months for "failing to perform his duty" to ensure safety and discipline on the plane.

The accused, an Indian banker named Shankar Mishra, was allowed to leave the plane after landing, without receiving any immediate punishment.

The victim filed a lawsuit after the case caused a sensation in the media.

The police arrested the man weeks later.

And the American "Wells Fargo" banking group announced that it would dispense with the services of Shankar Mishra.
