While Alphabet, Google's parent company, is undergoing large-scale job cuts, high-income workers with an annual salary of $ 1 million (approximately 1.2 billion won) were also included in the target for layoffs.
According to a Google manager who requested anonymity on the 21st, local time for an American tech company, it was reported that among the laid-off managers, some managers with an annual salary of between 500,000 and 1 million dollars were included.
It is not yet known how many high-income earners are on the layoff list.
A Google official said, "We know that there are many managers with high ranks."
Google said last month it introduced a new rating system for everyone from managers to employees.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai sent an e-mail to employees on the 20th, announcing plans to cut 12,000 jobs, or about 6% of all employees.
The layoffs were carried out across all subsidiaries owned by Alphabet, and Alphabet's latest job cut is the largest since its foundation.
