The US military said that 3 unidentified drones targeted this morning, Friday, the locations of its forces at the Al-Tanf military base in southern Syria, without causing casualties.

Military sources at the base told Al-Jazeera that drones targeted the base of the international coalition in Al-Tanf, near the meeting point of the Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian borders.

US Central Command said two drones were shot down, while the third hit the compound, wounding two Free Syrian Army soldiers.

For its part, the Anadolu Agency quoted local sources as saying that 5 drones targeted the American base, explaining that 4 drones were hit - before reaching the base - by the Washington-led coalition forces, while the fifth bombed a building at the base.

The US forces did not point fingers at anyone, but Central Command spokesman Colonel Joe Buccino said, "Attacks of this kind are unacceptable," considering that they "endanger our forces and partners."

The sources reported damage to the targeted building, while no other losses were reported. The identity of the drones and the point from which they took off are not yet known.

Several times, US military bases and points in Syria were attacked by drones and missiles launched from areas controlled by groups affiliated with Iran.
