Ukraine: Russia deliberately delays the inspection of grain ships

The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure stated in a post on its Facebook page that Russia's deliberate actions to delay inspections of Ukrainian grain cargo ships from the Black Sea ports led to a continuous accumulation of more than 100 ships in the Bosphorus Strait, according to Bloomberg News.

It added that ship inspections had been deliberately delayed since October, when Russia reduced the number of participating inspection teams from five to three.

Ukraine wants to increase the number of inspectors and inspections per day.

The delays contributed to the decline in grain exports from the ports, while their volume decreased by 47% on a monthly basis in November.

Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure said more than 120 vessels were awaiting inspection in the Bosphorus until January 18.
