Just before Christmas, Gnosjö Municipality was granted a grant of SEK 450,000 for an elevation of Brogatan in Hillerstorp.

The municipality of Eksjö has applied for a grant of SEK 570,000 for the embankment of the pedestrian and cycle path at Ingatorpsjön.

The application was submitted in 2021 and an announcement is expected later this year.

The municipality of Jönköping has applied for a grant of almost SEK 2,800,000 for the already built wall in Knektaparken.

The wall acts as a protective barrier and can withstand water if the level in Rocksjön rises, which risks flooding Liljeholmen.

The authority for social protection and preparedness, MSB, has not yet decided whether the municipality should be granted the grant for the construction.

Great interest in the grant

Interest in applying for grants for protection against natural disasters has, however, been lukewarm, SVT's compilation shows.

Despite repeated alarms that more protection against natural disasters is needed, not even half of the funds that the government set aside for this last year were used.

- Of course, it would have been better if we had received even more, says Ida Axelsson Wall, coordinator for state grants at MSB.
