Thousands of Palestinians in the city of Jenin, today, Thursday, mourned the bodies of the two martyrs, Adham Jabarin (28 years old) and Jawad Bawaqna (57 years old), who were killed by the Israeli occupation army during its storming of the Jenin camp at dawn today, Thursday.

The national and Islamic forces in the governorate declared general mourning for the souls of the martyrs, denouncing the continuous Israeli aggression on Jenin governorate, specifically its camp.

Jenin Governorate presented 9 martyrs since the beginning of this year, out of 17 martyrs who fell in separate parts of the West Bank during the past days.

funeral procession

The funeral procession for the two martyrs departed from Jenin Governmental Hospital to the home of their relatives in the Jenin camp. The mourners raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the occupation's violations. Gunmen fired in the air as an expression of anger.

In turn, the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, condemned the Israeli escalation, saying that the violation of cities, villages, camps, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the blood of Palestinians "requires the need to provide international protection for our people, and to stand seriously in front of the series of escalation and continuing criminality."

For months, the Israeli army has been carrying out operations in the northern West Bank, concentrated in the cities of Nablus and Jenin, under the pretext of "pursuing wanted persons."

Peace talks

US-mediated peace talks collapsed in 2014 aimed at creating a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

Chances of reviving the talks have dwindled further since Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power last December at the head of a far-right government, many of whose members oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is expected to confirm, during his meeting Thursday with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, "Washington's commitment to the two-state solution."
