The investigation continues in the case of "human remains" discovered Tuesday evening in a clogged pipe in a building in Saint-Priest, south of Lyon.
"The forensic investigations have identified the victim in the person of a young man aged 17," said
the Lyon prosecutor's office at
20 Minutes .
To assist the latter's family, a support system made up of a victim support association and a psychologist was set up at the request of the prosecution.
Prolonged police custody for the arrested suspect
On Wednesday morning, a suspect was arrested in connection with the case.
The police custody of this individual “will be extended during the day in order to determine the exact circumstances and the motive for this action,” said the prosecution.
He is a 28-year-old man whose criminal record bears no mention of any conviction and who has been followed for psychiatric disorders for several years.
An investigation for intentional homicide was entrusted to the judicial police "immediately" after the macabre discovery.
