President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is visiting Switzerland, gave an urgent order to "do everything possible to suppress the fire" in connection with the fire in Guryong Village, Gangnam-gu, Seoul today (20th), said Kim Eun-hye, senior public relations chief, in a written briefing.



President Yoon said, "As Guryong Village is located close to houses and is vulnerable to fire, the fire department, led by the Minister of Public Administration and Security, must mobilize all available manpower and equipment."



He also urged local governments to mobilize available means to induce residents to evacuate and ensure the safety of rescuers, especially to prevent human casualties.



At around 6:28 am today, a large fire broke out in a house in District 4 of Guryong Village, Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and the fire department is evolving.



The fire department evacuated 450 to 500 people around 7:17 am.



According to the Gangnam-gu Office, there are about 666 households living in Guryong Village.
