Politico: Washington does not plan to include Abrams tanks in the package of military assistance to Ukraine

The Politico newspaper writes about this, citing anonymous sources familiar with the discussion.

“The administration of (U.S. President Joe. -

) Biden does not currently plan to transfer the Abrams, the 60-ton main battle tank of the US ground forces,” the material says.

According to the publication, the transfer of tanks is not planned due to difficulties with logistics and maintenance, and not fear of further escalation of the conflict.

It is also noted that the Stryker armored personnel carriers may be included in the military aid package. 

White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said earlier that the US could announce a new aid package for Ukraine by the end of this week.
