Permanent mission of Russia: the EU is not endowed with the competence to create an international tribunal

This is stated in the statement of the Russian Permanent Mission to the EU.

“Brussels continues to come up with their own rules, while not taking into account the generally recognized norms of international law,” the diplomats stressed.

The Russian permanent mission recalled that the competence to create international tribunals belongs exclusively to the UN Security Council.

On January 19, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for the creation of a so-called special tribunal for Ukraine and the use of Russian assets for "reparations to Kyiv."
