A 66-year-old retiree was tried in immediate appearance before the Pontoise criminal court (Val-d'Oise) for malicious calls, insults and death threats against a departmental Samu operator.

He was sentenced on Monday to 12 months in prison, six of which were suspended, reports

.

On August 10, 2020, the man called Samu 95 between 80 and 100 times, threatening to kill the operator and his family.

On December 29, 2022 and January 13, 2023, he blocked the hotline and insulted regulators all night.

The sexagenarian had also had the Samu moved for a bronchial disease.

However, he had left the emergency services outside and started to multiply the calls again.

The retiree denied the insults yet recorded.

Alcohol could explain the defendant's behavior.

The latter had already been arrested several times for drunk driving and violence against a health professional.

The court pronounced an obligation of care and the defendant will have to compensate the operator and the Samu 95 up to 500 and 1,000 euros respectively.
