Chang Zhaorui said that recently, the "Deltekron" strain was detected in Thailand, which is a recombinant of the Omicron variant strain BA.4, BA.5 and the Delta variant strain AY.45, and is classified internationally. Named XAY.2.
This strain was first discovered in South Africa on August 31, 2022, and is currently monitored in 9 countries and regions around the world.
Since December 2022, a very small number of countries, mainly Denmark, have shown an upward trend. At present, there is not enough data on the transmission, pathogenicity and immune escape ability of the virus.
"Currently, no variant of XAY.2 has been detected in our country. We will continue to track international developments, further strengthen the monitoring of imported cases and local cases of new coronavirus variants in our country, and conduct analysis and judgment in a timely manner." Chang Zhaorui said.
Chang Zhaorui pointed out that it is still necessary to strengthen personal protection at this stage, and pay attention to maintaining good hygiene habits such as wearing masks, hand hygiene, and frequent ventilation.
