He believes that this is the background to why the experiment with security guards was carried out.

- Some people do not perceive this as a problem at all, while some do and we have taken it seriously as a municipality as everyone has the right to move and stay in these environments and feel safe.

Permission from the Police

To be able to employ security guards, it is necessary to apply for an appointment from the police authority.

There you can report why security guards must be deployed, during which period and in which places they must move.

The municipality received its approval and during the autumn, the guards worked 12 shifts over a period of four weeks, among other things around the travel centre, Nytorget and Ahlöfsparken.

- If you think about working against the problem and creating security, we see the outcome positively, says Andreas Ahlsén.

Possible continuation

Now the attempt has been summarized in a report that the politicians have had access to and a possible continuation with security guards is being investigated.

No decision has thus been taken in the municipality, but the possibility of a continuation exists.

The cost of the test round landed at SEK 100,000 and was fully paid for by Arboga municipality.

- We would absolutely like to get trade involved in some way so we work together going forward, says Andreas Ahlsén.
