In 2019, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić told the Rossiya 24 TV channel why Belgrade cannot recognize Crimea as Russian territory.

According to him, in this case, Belgrade would have been given an analogy with Kosovo and would have declared the independence of the region.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which the majority of residents voted for reunification with Russia.
