At least 18 people, including Ukraine's interior minister and three children, were killed when a helicopter crashed near kyiv on Wednesday, the national police said.

"In the city of Brovary (in eastern kyiv), a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and a residential building," deputy head of the presidential administration Kyrylo Tymoshenko reported on Telegram, citing regional authorities.

The plane crashed into the nursery and immediately afterward a fire broke out.

Ambulances, police and firefighters have already moved to the scene.

There are at least 29 injured, including

15 children who have had to be hospitalized.

The accident took place in Brovary, a city of about 100,000 inhabitants on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital.
