Paul Levin, head of the Institute for Turkish Studies at Stockholm University, believes that the NATO negotiations between Sweden, Finland and Turkey are currently in a delicate situation.

He claims that the Swedish government is in a bind.

On the one hand, Erdogan is benefiting from a political battle, and on the other hand there are Nato-critical actors in Sweden who have an interest in putting sticks in the wheels of the process.

- When these two political dynamics collide - then it is a difficult position for the government and for the Swedish NATO application, he says.
