In her thesis, Greta Horn has interviewed young people from Scania.

The result shows that tongue tip-r, i.e. a more rolling r sound that is pronounced further forward in the mouth, is gaining ground among young people in Scania.

- In my dissertation material, it is a quarter of the young people who use tongue tip-r.

It has previously been predicted by researchers that tongue-tip-r would spread in southern Sweden at the expense of the shrill tongue-root-r.

It undeniably looks as if a change in that direction is underway, at least among younger people, says Greta Horn.
