From February 1, Region Sörmland will reduce the amount of hired nursing staff, something that caused the nurses at the orthopedic clinic at Mälarsjukhuset in Eskilstuna to react.

The Orthopedic Clinic is currently allowed to keep its hired nurses, but only for five weeks at a time.

- Our managers apply to keep the rental nurses for five weeks at a time and when that dispensation expires, they can apply again, says Sara Hellström.

Want to recruit own staff

Magnus Johansson, director of health and medical care at Region Sörmland, has previously said that recruitment processes are underway to find their own nurses so that care is not affected.

On Wednesday afternoon, the healthcare management within the region will hold a press conference on how to work to reduce the number of temporary nurses.
