The New York Times writes about this, citing sources.

“After months of discussions with the Ukrainian authorities, the Biden administration is finally beginning to acknowledge that Kyiv may need forces to strike Russian territory,” the material says.

At the same time, the newspaper notes, the American authorities understand that this could lead to an even greater escalation of the conflict.

On December 5, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States had secretly modified the HIMARS MLRS given to the Ukrainian army so that they could not be used to launch long-range missiles against Russia.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the United States does not prohibit Kyiv from using American weapons against Crimea.

The Kremlin noted that Crimea is an integral part of Russia and claims to Russian territory will receive a proper response.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents voted for reunification with Russia.
