The head of the Turkish Intelligence Service, Hakan Fidan, met with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba and the President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad al-Munfi, in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

A statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Libyan Prime Minister's office on Tuesday stated that Dabaiba discussed the latest regional developments with Fidan.

The statement added that Al-Dabaiba met with Fidan at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and during the meeting they discussed joint regional and international files, in the presence of Libyan Foreign Minister Naglaa Al-Manqoush, Minister of State Adel Jumaa, and Minister of Communications and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi.

Fidan also met with the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Muhammad al-Munfi, in Tripoli.

A statement issued by the Press Office of the Presidency Council stated that the head of Libyan intelligence, Hussein Al-Aeb, and the Turkish ambassador to Tripoli, Kanaan Yilmaz, attended the meeting.

The statement did not give details of the content of the meeting.

The visit of the head of the Turkish intelligence service comes days after the visit of the head of the CIA, William Burns, who met al-Dabaiba in Tripoli and retired Major General Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi.

Sources told Al-Jazeera Net in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, that Burns stressed, during his meeting last Thursday in Tripoli, the need for the elections in Libya to bring about stability.

Burns described Dabaiba's government as a "reliable partner of the United States."
