The warnings issued in Jönköping County are for high flows, not for floods.
Warnings for high flows are based on how often a certain flow occurs, the less often a certain flow occurs, the redder the color of the warning.
In order for a warning to be given for flooding, there must be major societal consequences such as roads and railways being flooded.
- We only issue flood warnings for large watercourses.
Storån is considered a small watercourse, says Fredrik Schück, hydrologist SMHI.
Right now there are four different warnings for high flows around the county.
Two orange warnings that are placed around Nissan and Tidan, a yellow warning in Lagan and another yellow warning that covers most of Jönköping County's smaller waterways.
